The UC Climate Stewards course consists of a minimum of 40 educational hours (synchronous classroom hours, asynchronous work and field time), which includes a minimum of 2 field experience days. In addition to the 40 hours, participants are expected to complete a group stewardship project.
There are seven virtual sessions that are held on consecutive Tuesdays beginning February 4th and ending March 18th. Attendance at all sessions is required for certification; the class time will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm. These sessions are supplemental to the learning modules and text readings.
Required reading for certification includes: the book “Climate Stewardship" by Adina Merenlender with Brendan Buhler. You can purchase the book at a 30% discount by using the code "UCP SAVE30" at this LINK. Once you get there, click "Buy" and select "UC Press" from the drop down menu.
There are four field experience opportunities provided (see link to the list below), however, you are only required to attend two. Everyone is REQUIRED to attend the Dos Rios (Proposed) State Park field day on February 22nd as well as the Pacheco State Park field day on March 15th. The February 22nd field day at Dos Rios (Proposed) State Park will also include the required group stewardship project.
Participants may attend the other two field experiences based on their interest and desire to deepen their learning.
