General Information About This Workshop-Field Experience

DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIENCES FOR THE DAY

DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIENCES FOR THE DAY

DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIENCES FOR THE DAY

We will be welcomed to California’s newest (proposed) State Park, Dos Rios by the Four Rivers Sector Interpretive Team  Our agenda will be a flexible one, probably right up to that week, due to the dynamic context of the confluence of  the San Joaquin and Tuolumne Rivers in the month of February.  Partner presenters will address the historic and powerful human stories associated with the  long term floodplain restoration activities developed and implemented among agricultural lands, alongside advocates of the rivers and riparian ecosystems.  Key efforts include mitigating future flood risks, conserving biodiversity, replenishing groundwater and sequestering carbon.  We will have opportunities to walk in the area, observe wildlife, and individually engage with a group stewardship project.  Updated and more detailed information will be provided when confirmed.

DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIENCES FOR THE DAY

DESCRIPTION OF EXPERIENCES FOR THE DAY

Routes into the parking area and the parking lot is on packed soil.  The general parking lot is a distance away from the picnic area, and may require a walk of (~) 5 to 6 minutes.  Should it be helpful, the ability to exit a vehicle and unload any items directly at the picnic area, exists.

Temporary restrooms in the day use area are accessible.  All picnic sites are under shaded ramadas and are accessible. The picnic area includes accessible barbecues and a drinking fountain.

Conditions will determine actual field day interpretive walk possibilities. There is no seating, restrooms, or drinking water available on paths beyond the picnic area. The surfaces of these paths may or may not consist of hard packed road base, trails with noticeable, but not extreme elevation changes, loose dirt mixed with grasses and low growing plants, grass covered relatively flat areas, loose gravel, and/or any combination of these.

Once details are known, they will be shared and the ability to make preferred choices will be available to participants.
