Our day at Los Banos Creek Reservoir will involve presentations, discussions, activities, and experiences. We will focus on California’s water: including language, management policies, and laws associated with traditional and emerging approaches to water rights. Concepts of aquatic ecosystems, their value, importance, and understanding the complex relationships involved will be integrated throughout the day. We are planning a ranger-led barge ride opportunity. Participants will complete the requirements necessary to receive a grant-funded Aquatic WILD guide, which they will take home.
Parking is directly adjacent to the open air picnic area we will use for our field experience day. The parking area is asphalt, with relatively level, but in some places uneven dirt/gravel areas around picnic tables. Access to the multiple picnic tables is not universally level, with inclines to varying degrees. The dock is accessible. The barge is somewhat accessible. The restroom is accessible across from the asphalt parking lot. There is no potable water.
From I-5, exit East on Highway 152, continue east to Volta Road, right turn on Volta to Pioneer Road, left turn on Pioneer road to Canyon Road, right turn on Canyon Road to Park. Canyon Road runs straight into the park.
